ABOUT VOLUNTEERING AT THE FAMILY CENTRE
Volunteers are the heart of our organization and there are a variety of ways you can help. We are in need of people that are willing to share their skills with the community.
To become a volunteer, you must first have a criminal record check done; which can be accessed at the Family Centre. All volunteers must complete a volunteer application form and sign a confidentiality agreement.
Some of the areas you can be involved in:
- Special Events
- Library Administration
- Advertising and Promotion
- Child Minding
- Clerical Support
- Board Members
- Program/Group Support
- Building Maintenance
We Need You!
Answer YES to any of these questions and we’d love to use your talents and gifts:
- Are you a good listener?
Our Community Support Volunteer Program is looking for additional volunteers to provide a “listening ear” and support to others through basic problem solving. This program is provided at no cost and is open to anyone requesting the service. If you are professionally trained in counselling and could contribute one or more hours weekly we would love to have you as part of our team. If you don’t have training but want to help, a training program in “peer counselling” will be offered. Please contact Patti for more information.
- Are you skilled in carpentry and minor repairs?
Any maintenance and upkeep of building help from community members with donated or reduced price materials or volunteer labour would be greatly appreciated.
- Are you looking for a way to “pay it forward” to our community?
Please think about the impact a gift from you could have on families in our community now and in the future.
For more information about becoming a volunteer, call the Shuswap Family Resource Centre @ 250-832-2170.
